Understand how our carbon emissions cause the Greenhouse Effect and Climate change

What you did

As part of our research programme Our Classroom Climate and Pentre Awel with Swansea University we looked at catching carbon.
We have a Nuuku Air quality monitor that monitors humidity, CO2, VOC's, NO3, temperature and particulate matter in our class in Y6.
We have a spirulina bio-reactor in the class which catches carbon, we use pipettes to collect 2ml from the bio reacot. Put in a centrifuge and measure the carbon captured in both Y 6 classes.
We have created a recording of what is carbon and cO2 following research.
We learnt about the carbon cycle, what is Climate change and Global warming, looking at carbon Producers and Carbon collectors.

Activity description

Understanding the carbon we emit as individuals and organisations is crucial if we are to reduce the negative impact we have on our environment. This activity will demonstrate to pupils how the actions they take contribute to the warming of our planet.
