Label lights and appliances to show which should be left on or turned off

What you did


Students added dots in classrooms and common areas in preparation for holiday switch off. 

I will be giving you stickers to label sockets and switches using a traffic light system: 

Green - Students / staff can switch off whenever these are not in use. E.g. Light switches, whiteboards, coffee machines, fans / heaters.


Orange / Yellow - These can be turned off at weekends / evenings / half-term holidays but students should ask teachers whether they are able to turn these off. E.g. Computers, Equipment in practical areas.


Red - These items should not be switched off under any circumstance. E.g. Fridges / Freezers or extractor fans for chemical cupboards etc.

Activity description

Pupils will identify all IT equipment, appliances and lighting throughout the school and indicate which can be turned off using a traffic light coding system.
