Overview

We now know that meat consumption is a huge contributor to climate change and that eating meat can be as or more damaging to the environment than driving petrol cars. There are also several health benefits to reducing the amount of meat that you eat.

Run a survey among the pupils to find out which existing vegetarian meals are most popular. Ask which plant-based meals pupils would like to see more often. Get input from parents with new vegetarian recipes.

Review school menus to provide more varied vegetarian options. Promote vegetarian options via assemblies, school newsletters and tutor time. Review uptake of vegetarian options and associated food waste.  Adjust the menu to remove unpopular choices.
