There is often a need for rooms to be kept warm in holidays to accommodate school staff who cannot work from home. However, it is enormously inefficient to heat the whole school to keep a small number of staff warm in individual rooms.
A typical two form entry primary needs 80 kW of continuous heating to keep it warm, whereas it is much more efficient to provide 1kW electric fan heaters to individual staff who may want to come in during the holidays. Doing this can reduce the school's carbon emissions and costs during holidays by more than 95%.
